Radiohead
I've decided that from now on, they're once again called Thomas Yorke and Jonathan Greenwood.
I see Radiohead slipping into another dimension-after their initial cowardice and Thom Yorke statement, the lyrics of their potential LP10 will become those of a complacent middle-aged man with crimes against humanity. I now read them through that prism; it's impossible to see it any other way.
As a huge fan of Radiohead but without any idolatry, I understand that fans will split into 2 groups: those for whom Radiohead already belongs to the past, music they'll listen to more “casually” in a few years, never forgetting that behind it were rich white men complicit in an oppressive system; and those who will remain blind -those soft liberal minds, perfect subjects for fascism – because they refuse to see the structural violence behind the image.
Somewhere, I'm glad, because you know, for those who understand, I like it when things become clear, when everyone's cards are finally laid on the table. Confusion and ambiguity always feed the comfort of the dominant.
He actually dared to title his post “fillings the blanks”. That still makes me laugh, asshole.
